The iPhone 7 Plus Review

When Apple announce they’re releasing a new iPhone, we’re all ears in the High Heel Creative office!

On Wednesday 7th September 2016, we tuned in to watch the Apple launch to hear all about the latest developments that Apple were about to unleash onto the market.

There was the 2nd edition Apple Watch which is now water resistant and offers a GPS facility, as well as the new Nike Apple Watch for those super sporty types. We loved hearing about all the upgrades to the software as well as the new straps and accessories but what we were really interested in was the new iPhone.

Already an owner of the latest iPhone 6S, there had been so many rumours flying around as to what Apple would do next and how they were going to improve, it was all very intriguing.

What really caught our attention however was the new iPhone 7 Plus! So what is all the type about? Let us tell you…

Ok, firstly, it’s large (6.23 x 3.07 x 0.29 in) but we knew that, and it’s no larger than the 6S Plus so for those already used to the larger handset you won’t really notice any difference.

Next, it looks great! The 5.5 LED-backlit IPS LCD, capacitive touchscreen display looks awesome. With a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, the display is more clear and beautiful than ever. The Ion-strengthened glass and an oleophobic coating means you can be sure your screen with also be protected.

Not only does it look great, it sounds pretty good too. Now don’t be fooled, the sound won’t rival the latest Bluetooth speakers but the iPhone 7 Plus has stereo speakers as well as active noise cancellation and dedicated microphone. If you’ve heard all about the new wireless ‘airpods’ but you’re not ready to trade in your wire just yet, then you’ll be pleased to know that Apple have included a Lightning to 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter with the iPhone to ensure you have the choice. If you’re tempted by the airpods however, they’ll set you back a whopping $159!

The iPhone 7 Plus battery life has also had an upgrade. It now claims to last 2 hours longer than the previous model.

As always, there’s also new colours to choose from. The new jet black, which is super shiny (and will attract finger marks like flies to flypaper) as well as a matt black, a shiny front and a matt back (more like a dark grey in daylight).

Personally, the black models didn’t blow us away and in fact we were a little disappointed that the rumoured blue didn’t make an appearance. So, we snapped up the rose gold and it was gratefully delivered to our offices on Friday 16th September (we did pre-order at 8:01am on the Friday they became available for pre-order!).

Overall, we love the new iPhone 7 Plus, we love it’s size, features and the Dual 12 Megapixel, (28mm, f/1.8, OIS & 56mm, f/2.8), phase detection autofocus, 2x optical zoom, quad-LED (dual tone) with flash camera is well worth the investment! So what are you waiting for? Snap up your favourite model now!
